Welcome to UCC Acosta Middle School

The Community

The new school is named after Dora and Israel “Shorty” Acosta in recognition of their more than 75 years of combined service to UCC, Bruce-Guadalupe Community School, and the community overall. They have both helped hundreds of youth and families to create better lives and always believed in and shared with the community the value of a strong education.

The Campus

The “Building on Success” campaign commenced in 2012. The first phase of this venture included the construction of a 36,000 sq. ft. addition to expand Bruce-Guadalupe Community School (BGCS). The campaign's second phase included remodeling another facility on campus to accommodate a new middle school that housed 250 students to complete our goal of serving 1,600 students.

Renovation of an existing facility on campus to create a temporary home for the new middle school began in early 2016. Enrollment expansion then began with three new 6th grade classrooms (approximately 60 students) in the 2016–2017 school year. Construction of the new UCC Acosta Middle School began in 2017, and the new state-of-the-art facility opened its doors to students for the 2018–19 school year. By the 2021–2022 school year, the new middle school will enroll 250 students in Grades 6–8.
